While reports of large snow falls in east parts of the United States we have had a temperature drop here in the Phoenix Valley. The temperature has come down from over 100 degrees to the beautiful 80's with lows in the evening in the 60's. This is why we live here in Arizona. Sure we have to put up with higher temperatures in the summer months between late May thru late September, but our air conditioning units can handle that and swimming is healthy for you. Ask yourself how much you enjoy shoveling snow from your drive or running your car with the heater on before you can drive it down a frozen road.
I moved from the north of England almost six years ago where the weather is cold damp and miserable through the winter months. My first summer here took a little bit of adjusting but when the temperature dropped in October it was like every day was a beautiful sunny day with cool evenings where you can plan a BBQ outside with friends and not have to move it in doors because of rain. Back home in the winter months the sound of cars with mufflers that had rusted through seemed like only to common. I can not remember ever hearing a car sounding louder than it should here, rust is a thing of the past where we live now.
Having said that if you live in a state where you have extreme cold weather then have you ever thought of buying a second home here in the valley of the sun? We are not subject to tropical storms or hurricanes like Florida and our home prices are no where near where they are in Florida. Depending where you would like to live you can find homes starting at as low as $70,000 that were constructed in 2000 or newer. Because of the housing market and the way things are right now in the economy these homes are being sold by the banks that own then for way less than the replacement cost. If you have ever contemplated buying a second home in a warmer climate now is the time as home prices out here in certain places have now dropped well below the price they were when they were first constructed. This window of opportunity will not last forever especially when you factor in the interest rates available right now. Its worth spending a little time to do some investigating to see if it makes sense for you after all we have been snow free for quite some time now.
